Books Galore!

Yep, that's right. Books galore! I don't know about you guys, but I love books. I love books so much I write down their release dates in my day planner. Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm a nerd. Anyway, two of my favourite authors have books hitting the shelves today! Woohoo!

Gaelen Foley's new book The Wicked Marquess, is the first in her new series the Inferno Club.

Julia Quinn's book, What Happens in London is a sequel to her fabulous book The Secret Diaries of Miranda Cheever.

I can't wait to get my hands on both books! The only problem is, which book do I read first? Ah decisions, decisions!

Do you guys have any books you are looking forward to reading?

In Virginia

So we arrived in Virginia safe and sound. Very tired, but safe. We got to sit together for 2 of the 3 flights, which was nice.

I don't really have much else to say. Oh, it's HOT here. Ugh. Too late I remembered why I don't wear jeans down here in the summer.

Anyway, I'm going to try and write today. Finish up my synopsis so that I can send in my stuff for one of the contests.

Are Women Born This Way?

I don't know. You tell me. We probably are born this way. I know my Mum and Dad... oh and probably Christopher too, would all agree that I can talk and talk and talk.

Christopher sent me this video and I've been meaning to share it with you all for quite some time now but alas, my memory isn't quite what it used to be... I think.
But it is bedtime for me. I need to get up at 2:45am to get ready for my flight(s) tomorrow. Yipee! At least Chris will be there so I'll feel safe sleeping in the airport. Wish me all luck! I will hopefully update this tomorrow evening or Wednesday sometime. I will for sure be updating Facebook at some point tomorrow.

An Update and Father's Day

Alright, so clearly I'm not very good at keeping this up-to-date when Christopher is here. And yes, I am blaming everything on him! Muah hahahahah!

Um so, Friday night the boy and I went with my parents to see The Proposal. He-larious. It got really bad reviews but it is so funny and very cute. Even the boys liked it. After the movie we went to Earls for dinner. Twas yummy. However the night wasn't all stars and smiles. When we were getting into the movie theatre I tripped on the escalator (it wasn't on and we had to march up it to get there). Unfortunately I stubbed my big toe- the one that has been infected for a little while now. So it hurt really bad all throughout the movie. Well, what I didn't realize, was that it wasn't hurting because of the infection, it was hurting because I ripped half of my nail off and it was bleeding. Oops! Thankfully my pedicure from a few weeks ago saved me from losing more nail because of all the nail polish they put on. It acted as a glue. Phew!

Saturday the boy and I got up early and went with Dad to Drumheller area. We drove to Rosebud, Drumheller and Wayne to show Christopher the "badlands" of Alberta. It was nice. Daisy was really tired though, and was limping a little, so we just carried her most of the time.

Once we got home we finished tidying up the house and Sandra and Denise came over for dinner. Denise made Baked Alaska for Christopher to try and Dad made burgers and hot dogs. Then after they left we all played games until Chris and I were invited to the Station for a friend's birthday party. We didn't stay long but it was still fun.

Sunday we all went to Heritage Park with Genny and Jon. Although it was a windy/rainy day it was a lot of fun. It was nice to see old friends again and have them meet Christopher- finally. Afterwards we played Apples to Apples. For Father's Day we have ordered a neato keano GPS system. One he hopefully won't lose!

So today was/ is being spent doing laundry and packing. It's difficult and yet also easier to be packing for only 2 weeks. I'm used to packing for 2 months. Tonight we are having More Than Ice Cream to give Christopher one last taste of Western Canadian Chinese food. Yum!

Tomorrow at a painfully early hour, Chris and I will be heading to the airport to fly to Virginia. I will be there for two weeks, but will still be posting blogs occasionally. Regardless if I post, I will check this everyday. I will also be checking my facebook every day and I will have my phone.

Hope you all have fun!

Back From the Mountains!

Hello all, miss me?

So I've been back since Sunday, but I've been preoccupied with Christopher, sleeping, laundry, sleeping, Christopher... you know, really important stuff =]

The camping trip was fun- hot- but fun. It only rained one night but it wasn't a full out rain. We just stayed in the tent trailer and played games. And no, for those of you who are wondering, I did not get any writing done. I tried, I really did. But for one, Christopher talks a lot, which is good because he isn't one of those silent guys that you are wondering is even listening but it's difficult to work around him. And two, well, I was camping so yeah. Anyway, I'll post some pictures later I promise.

So tonight I am working on formatting my manuscript for the contests I am planning on entering in July. It's actually hard work! I have the normal things in hand (ie font, margins etc...) but the 25 lines per page thing was just frustrating me! Well, in truth it was kicking my butt. But finally I found a place online (I love google) that told me how to do a bunch of stuff. So I am working on changing that. And then I am going to write while Christopher plays his new Ghostbusters xbox 360 game. Sounds like a plan, Stan. At least it does to me!

So how was your weekend? Anything new going on?

Camping Time!

Okay, so I was wrong earlier when I said we were going camping on Fathers Day weekend and my mum's birthday. We are going camping this weekend (mum's birthday is the 14th of June) but what I didn't realize was that Father's Day wasn't until the 21st. Oops! Anyway, I will be without Internet until sometime Sunday (and likely without phone service as well). If it is an emergency... well, lets hope it doesn't come to that eh? LOL! So have fun everyone! I will post stories and pictures when I return.

By the way... I am SOOO happy Christopher is here! I love him very very very much and I like getting hugs and kisses whenever I want =]

24 Hours!

Hello all,

So there is less than 24 hours until I get to see my love! Yay! Okay okay, I know you all aren't as excited as I am (I mean seriously, why would you be?) But I'm excited!

So this is tonight's agenda. Finish up the laundry (can you hear my enthusiasm?), tidy up the house, finish Karin Tabke's fabulous and wholly delicious book Master of Craving- I repeat, delicious- and then I shall sit down and write! Since I know I will get little sleep because of my excitement I might as well do something useful!

I will update you later on how my plans went since they generally don't go as planned!

Sir Gawain and The Green Knight

I cleaned today. Yipee. Tomorrow I will finish the job by vacuuming. And okay, so there is no Green Knight, but there is a Sir Gawain. I need to clean out his bowl tomorrow. He's my fishy. He keeps me company when I live in residence. Guess he keeps me company now too, but he's shy here at home. Our family cat likes to torment him. She doesn't try and get him or kill him. She just likes to dip her paw in to taunt him. She's evil incarnate.

My wrists are getting so bad. I dropped one of my mums Yankee Candles today and it shattered. Luckily she wasn't upset since it wasn't exactly my fault. Wrists gave out. Again. I'm getting mighty sick of it. And the pain medication isn't doing its job anymore. Or maybe it is? Maybe the pain is increased and is slipping past the guards. It's a shudder-worthy thought. It certainly makes it hard to write. And I need to write. Sometimes I have troubles, but writing is a part of me, and now that I've opened the flood gates so to speak, it won't stop. I have headaches? I still want to write. I'm tired? I still want to write. My wrists are killing me? Yep you guessed it, I still want to write.

Christopher gets here Tuesday. I'm excited. Nervous, but excited. I don't know why I always get nervous. But I do. It's another fact of life. The first fact of course being that cat's are evil incarnate. He stays here for 2 weeks and then I go down to Virginia for 2 weeks. And then I'm home for a weekend before flying to Washington DC. Apparently I like planes.

We are going camping in Kananaskis country for Father's Day and Mum's birthday. It'll be fun =] I might not be blogging on here as much as normal, but I will certainly try to. But, boys are distracting. Extremely so.

Revisions Update...

I have deleted close to 3000 words and I am not done yet. Currently I am at 50 645 words. However, I haven't written in some of the scenes I plan to, and those scenes will be hefty, so I am not worried about word count being too low. Maybe too high. It's taking longer than I thought. Hopefully I will be done before the 11th of June.

PS. Picture taken in my residence room in December. Yes I know Gawain's water was low, but it was taken right before a water change. Picture is of my parents, if you were wondering.

Pink Nail Polish, Ice Cream and Morgan Freeman

Update about Yesterday...

So as promised, the weather remained cloudy, with spurts of rain and snow off and on all day. Mum and I went and got our nails done by a bunch of small, ageless Vietnamese women. They thought we were sisters. Mum was thrilled, especially since her 39th birthday is only a skip around the corner. My toe nails are an electric teal colour, and my nails are pink. You only live once, right? I guess it depends on your religious beliefs.

We went into the city to try and see My Life in Ruins... unfortunately, everyone else had the same plan and the movie was sold out. In fact, every movie was sold out. I've never seen a movie theatre that packed. We were like cows being herded by yapping border collies with superiority complexes. Or lemmings, following the lead of one or two to cliffs edge- except there were no cliffs. Pity. I wouldn't have minded peering over the edge.

We ended up at my aunt's house. While the others picked out a movie, I sat on her beige couch being drooled on by her Basset Hound, Winston. I've never seen ears that big. Ears shouldn't be heavy unless they are elephant ears. Her other dog Tuffie, a black Scottish Terrier, sat there staring at me and Winston as if we needed supervision; his little pink tongue visible through his under bite.

10 minutes later I was eating vanilla ice cream and watching Shawshank Redemption. I could listen to Morgan Freeman talk all day. If he's narrating a movie, I promise you, it is worth watching. But besides that, Shawshank Redemption is an amazing movie. I will say nothing other than: watch it. It falls under the classics like The Green Mile, and Schindler's List. It will make you cry. It will make you laugh, and it will make you question human nature in a way I have never seen before- and yes, I am a movie connoisseur. It makes you despair, and it gives you hope. Ultimately, it is a movie about humanity.

On that note, I will leave you as you look up the movie on IMDB.

Friday, June 5

The forecast this morning is calling for snow. Snow. Say it with me, slowly: S-N-O-W. In June. It started raining yesterday evening and has been going on and off ever since, which in truth, doesn't bug me all that much. I like the rain. I find it always encourages me to write more.

But snow? I'm not so sure about that one.

Anyway, so I have finally come to the conclusion, after much humming and ha'ing on my part, that I need to revise my story a bit. I always had the intention of going back and getting rid of a few things here and a few things there. But since I am just a little over 50 000 words, I decided now is the time. It's been bugging me.

So from now until Christopher gets here on Tuesday (YAY) I will be revising. Hopefully I will finish it in that time frame. All that's happening this weekend is 1) Saturday I am getting a pedicure and manicure with my mum then we are going to see My Life in Ruins with my grandmother and my auntie; and, 2) Sunday and Monday I need to clean the house (ie., dust, vacuum, clean the bathroom etc...) and do all the laundry. In other words, make sure it's clean so I don't have to worry about cleaning it while Chris is here.

But I really do hope I can get these revisions done soon so that I can enter some of the contests. Most of them require the first few chapters... but those are the ones I am likely going to be changing the most! So we shall see. I will keep you posted!
Anyone have any suggestions for toe nail colours?

Little Known Fact

So I got this email from my mum earlier today. Thought it was pretty funny so I figured I'd share it with you guys!

Little Known Fact

The first testicular guard (Cup) was used in baseball in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 1934. So in other words, it took 60 years for men to realize that the brain is also important.
