Friday 56: Kimberly Derting

1) Grab the book nearest you. Right now. Don't dig for your favorite, the coolest, or most intellectual book. Use the closest book to you.
2) Turn to page 56
3) Post any sentence from that page (plus 1 or 2 others if you like) along with these instructions on your blog. If you don't have your own blog, feel free to post in the comments section of this blog.

Author: Kimberly Derting
Genre: YA Paranormal
"She listened to the chatter going on around her as Jay's arm slipped over her shoulder and he steered her toward the lunchroom. She heard Chelsea and Jules. She heard Claire giggle. She heard the deep voice of the new boy--Mike, she remembered--deep like Jay's. And she heard Jay.
She didn't hear the girl, but she knew she was still there.
They were all just noise to Violet.
She felt Jay squeezing her hand with his. It was warm. It made her feel safe and attached to the world.
He reminded her that she was still alive."

  1. Jena- Yep. The first book was really good.

  2. This is a cool idea. This reminds me of that movie, "Next Stop Wonderland," where the main character always opens her favorite book at random (her father's book of poetry) and with her eyes closed she would put her finger on a word. She thought that was a sign ;)
    I loved it!

  3. Claudia- Yes, I like this blog idea. Wish I'd thought of it =)
