WIP Wednesday

Hello all! I hope your week has been lovely so far! Mine has been very productive!

Sekret Medieval Romance: Querying

• After some very helpful feedback, I decided to revise chapters 1 and 2. We'll see whether or not anyone likes the changes I've made! =)

Struck (YA Paranormal Romance)

• I've done nothing on Struck this week. Oops! However, I do hope to write the next chapter in the next few days!
• Word Count: Still at 15, 514

A Highlander's Ransom (Medieval Romance)

• Eeeks! I can't tell you how much I'm loving this story so far. I've done quite a bit of research, and I've plotted out the major points of the story! I'm very excited.
• I've finished the first chapter and sent it off to my CPs for some feedback. Three of four have responded and so far they seem to like it! Yay!
• I'm now working on the second chapter and I can't wait to see how this story unfolds!!
• Word Count: 2,515 (hopefully 3,500 by the end of the day)

So, how are your stories coming along?? Any exciting news?

Setting Deadlines: For or Against?

I don't know about you, but I'm the type of person who needs deadlines to get anything done. I am an obsessive planner--and list maker-- so this works out perfectly for both my schooling and my writing. However, I know many other writers who work better without deadlines. They go with the flow and don't force the words out if it's a bad day. Like most things, there are pros and cons to both sides.

Deadline orientated people get things done by the specified date (for the most part). However, they can also stress themselves out meeting that goal, which can spread into their non-writing life and create all sorts of issues. As well, the quality of their writing can take a big hit if all they worry about is meeting their deadline.

On the flip side of this, the "go with the flow" types write when they feel inspired. Their work isn't likely to take a hit from being stressed, because they only work when they feel the need to. However, this can mean they take years to finish one project and by that time the voice at the beginning of the story might not mesh with the voice at the end of the story (among other issues). As well, if they are published, they need to be able to work under deadlines with their publisher.

Do you make deadlines or are you a "go with the flow" type?  What pros and cons can you think of for each?

WIP Wednesday

My goodness, when was the last time I've done one of these? Months, probably. Oopsie!!

Anywho... Since its been so long since I've updated you on my writing progress, I figured today would be the best time to do it!

Struck (YA Paranormal Romance):

• Ahhh where do I begin with Struck? I love it, I hate it, yadda yadda.The word count is currently at 15, 514, or 58 pages. Unfortunately, I stopped writing completely in November and December due to school work and surgery. I hope to pick it up again on a more permanent basis.
• A few weeks ago I decided to plot out the whole thing. It went really well, but I'm still nervous about the story. I'm having a lot of troubles with the fact that its a YA. My romance stories have always leaned towards the hot side, so I don't know the YA boundaries very well ;)

Medieval Romance (Querying)

• You know, I just realized that I haven't ever told you guys the title of my story, have I? Ah, I shall continue to keep it a sekret lol. Anyway, querying has been fantastic so far. As always, I wont give you my stats, but I will say that they are very, very good.
• Even if nothing comes of this story, I'll be okay. I'm already plotting my next medieval and I hope to start it in the next week or two (eeks!) I'm excited, but nervous.

Well, that's all the news I have right now. I plan on writing this week/weekend, so I'll hopefully have more to update by next Wednesday!!

EditMinion

Okay, so any title with the word "minion" in it has to be good right? ;)

Anyway, I was reading through some blogs earlier (*gasp* I was actually reading blogs? No way!), and B.E. Sanderson had this interesting post on EditMinion, a website that actually "edits" your work for you. Interesting huh? I tried it and got all green on my report card! Yay! I didn't have any passive voice in my blurb either!

A Much Needed Update

Hello everyone! Wow, it's been a long time since I last posted, eh? Sorry about that! After my surgery in November everything became so hectic! However, with a new semester comes a new measure of calm-- at least until my next surgery.

Anyway, since it has been so long since I've posted, I thought I would do a bit of an update! Here goes...

School:

• I did really well in all of my classes last semester! Yay! While I did like my classes, I'm glad they're done. The workload was insane and I was barely keeping up.
• A new semester has started! Not as yay, but meh. I am now in Ancient Greece, Indigenous Peoples of Latin America, Canadian Drama, and the History of Film.  So far I'm really enjoying them. Last semester was all about my major (English). This semester, however, I'm in 3 history courses and only 1 English. I think I burnt myself out on the English there. Oh well. At least I'm taking courses in my minor.

Personal:

• My trip to Virginia was wonderful, as always. It was so nice to see everyone there and get away from this blasted weather. *glares out window*  It is seriously freezing here. -30 Celsius seems to be our average recently. Sometimes its even worse with the windchill.
• Unfortunately, I am scheduled for another surgery, this time for my left arm. My first surgery seems to have gone really well and I already notice a huge difference. Hopefully my left arm surgery will go just as well! Anyway, its on February 16th.  I hope to get some pictures of my arm up here soon, I promise!

There you have it! A lot has been going on with my writing, too, but I will save that for a Wednesday post!
