Taking a Break

Hello everyone!

Well, I'm sure some of you saw this coming. With everything going on, I've hit the point in my summer where I'm simply too busy to try and keep up with a blog right now. When I still had MCM, I at least had one post a week. Without that, I'm kinda left adrift at the moment. I'd like to promise that I'm going to update wedding stuff (and I truly might), but I can't guarantee it.

Anyway, I will be putting my blog on a temporary hiatus until the majority of wedding stuff is done (likely after August 18th). Again, I might pop on every so often to give an update or post some pictures, but I'm not making any promises ;) If you miss me, I'll still be posting on Facebook and Twitter.

However, before I go, I thought I'd give you all a bit of an update =)

So yesterday the FH and I received some excellent news--we were approved for our townhouse!!!!! We will officially get the keys and move in on August 1st. Woohoo!!! I am so excited. I'm not gonna lie--I was really worried that we wouldn't have a place to live! Thankfully, everything worked out the way we needed it to. We love the entire complex--it feels like a little village tucked away in the trees. The townhouse itself is over 1100 sq ft and it's quite nice. And, of course, the complex has a resort-style POOL, so that makes me exceedingly happy ;)

We won't be doing an official move in for a while, but we're hoping to get some of the big furniture in there and then we'll just slowly move my FH's stuff in there as we go. My stuff, unfortunately, won't be making the trek from Canada until mid-September. My parents and I agreed there's no time for me to get it and unload a giant ReloCube before--or even right after--the wedding. Oh well. I will just have to learn to live in the chaos for a few weeks ;)

Anywho, that about covers it for me! The FH and I are driving up to Staunton tonight to hangout at Granny and Pawpaw's before Bridal Shower # 3 on Sunday, so my internet presence may be sporadic this weekend.

I hope you guys have a wonderful summer!!!

xoxo

New Monday Series

Since my Man Candy Monday posts are no more, I need to come up with a new feature to have on the blog. I’ve been brainstorming and I could do reviews of books I loved (I refuse to do bad reviews on here—in fact, I’ve stopped posting negative reviews anywhere). I could also do reviews of movies, specifically medieval-esk movies, for my medieval romance writers out there. Of course, that one is kind of geared towards one group in particular, but I could always tweak it to just include all movies.

Alright, my brainstorming session didn’t go very well, because that’s all I came up with. Do you guys have any suggestions??  I loved MCM because I could prepare them a month in advance and not worry about them—in essence, it was quick and painless. So any suggestions would be lovely =)

Copyright Infringement: Ceasing Man Candy Monday

So I was strolling through my blog list today (something I rarely get to do anymore because of the wedding), when I came across this post by Roni Loren. In the post she admitted that she had been sued over the past few months for using a picture on her blog that was not hers. She followed every step the exact same way I would have--took down the picture when the photographer notified her, etc etc... But apparently that wasn't enough. She had to get lawyers involved and had to pay money...

Well.

I don't know about you guys, but that sounds like absolute hell. I can't afford the stress something like that would cause me and my family. Therefore, I have made the painful decision to cease my Man Candy Monday posts. Trust me, this was a difficult decision for me to come to, but I simply don't have the time or patience to check the copyright on each picture I post. That also means I will be making a mass deletion on all of those posts. I will also slowly be going through my other posts to make sure I delete those pictures as well--this will take some time, especially since I'm so busy, but it will be done ASAP.

As Roni says on her post, it seems rare that something like that would happen to me, but it did happen to her. I just can't take that chance.

I'm sorry guys, I know that is a main feature of this blog, but I hope you all understand.

*I don't know why it keeps doing that white background on some parts but I don't have the time or inclination to fix it at the moment, lol*

**I have since realized how much work would be involved in taking all of the pictures down, so I will just leave those up and pray nothing bad comes of it. I won't post any other pictures from this point on unless they are mine, or I have permission.**

Much Needed Wedding & Life Update!

Hello everyone!

I’m sorry I haven’t been around much—I’ve been running around trying to get wedding stuff finished.  I don’t have much time to do this post, so I’m going to get straight to the point!

Rings:
--Christopher and I have picked out and bought our rings. I'm not going to post pictures until after the wedding, but trust me when I say they are very nice =)

Florist:
--My future mother-in-law and I spent two hours at the florist's the other day, hammering out our choices. I adore our florist--her work is fantastic and we've never heard a complaint made about her. I can't wait to see what our flowers look like! As well, she is an adorable southern lady who insists on playing with my hair and giving me hugs lol. She's a lot of fun. I might need to stop by every so often just to have a chat after the wedding is done, LOL!

Cake
--We met with our cake lady at a coffee shop the other night to discuss flavors and designs. When we were there, a bluegrass band was playing, which was lots of fun to sit and listen to =) Our cake is going to be three tiers, so we decided on one layer being chocolate and the other two being a simple butter cake. She brought us sample cakes and they were delicious! Oh, and the “sample” cakes were BEAUTIFUL. I’m very excited to see what she comes up with!

Reception:
--We met with the reception place to discuss food. After a mix-up about time (not on our part), we finally figured out the menu for the wedding day. At the moment we are trying to figure out the numbers on the invoice they gave us… they simply aren’t adding up. But once we get that hammered out, I’ll feel better about all of it. Regardless, we know many people who have had celebration parties there and they had no complaints.

Church:
--We met with the minister the other day to discuss the ceremony details. We still have to pick out a specific scripture, but we’ve narrowed it down to two. I’m not particularly religious (nor is my family), so I want something that focuses more on love.  Either way, it was nice to get to talk to the minister and hear his thoughts. Luckily, he only had praise for Christopher and I—and we don’t need to meet with him for couples therapy, which is normally a requirement. But he said we are far more prepared then most couples and he sees no problems, so yay! =P

Shopping:
--On top of all of this, we’ve been out shopping for various wedding things, as well as welcome bags for the Canadians travelling to Virginia.  Strangely enough, we had the most trouble finding matching white wicker baskets for the twin flower girls. After going to ten stores, we finally located them at a small florist shop—and they were only a buck each!

Tuxes:
--We got Christopher and his brother fitted for their tuxes on Sunday =)

Apartment/Townhouse:
--Well, I’m pretty sure Christopher and I have decided to rent.  I won’t go into the nitty-gritty details, but we decided that would be best for us for this first year. It wasn’t an easy decision, but I’m okay with it when it’s all said and done.  Thankfully, we found a townhouse we LOVE about five minutes away from where we live right now. We went to see it on Saturday and fell in love with the entire complex (they have a giant POOL)! Unfortunately, there are some issues because of the fiancĂ© visa, but we are hoping to get that squared away soon. Worst case scenario, we have to wait to sign a lease until after we’re married. That would suck, because we are already cluttering up the parents-in-law’s house with our furniture and bridal shower presents, but there’s not much we can do right now. I just hope we get in there!!

Favors:
--We've worked on the wedding favors—they are so cute! I can’t wait for you to see them. It took us about 5 1/2 to 6 hours of sitting there, but they look fantastic and they cost us very little. We got the boxes and the stickers and notecards for free. The only things we paid for are the Canadian chocolates (about 80 dollars), the ribbon (which was 50% off at Michaels, which brought all 10 rolls to about 5 dollars), and the tulle (which was about a buck).  All told, under 90 dollars is pretty good for 160 wedding favors =).  We are praying we don't have more guests than that. My future mother-in-law invited a loooooot of people, but she thinks most will say no, due to the date of the wedding (school starts that week).

--We’ve also finished up the favors for the rehearsal dinner.  Along the same lines, we also made the invitations for the rehearsal dinner and sent those out =)

Presents:
--We received our first wedding present the other day! We got eight place settings of our china from a mixture of Christopher’s family =)  We’ve been receiving a steady stream of bridal shower presents, so that’s been super fun! And we’ve been getting a bunch of the RSVPs back, which makes the mail quite fun right now, LOL!  As well, we also received the rest of our china from my mum and dad, as well as a set of Guinness glasses for the FH (he was quite pleased lol).

Random:
--As if the rest of this wasn’t enough in one week, we also went to a scouting event on Friday night up at Camp Ottari (a wonderful scout camp where Christopher and his brother spent numerous summers as boys). Normally I like going to the camp but the camp fire was lame (it rained and got super hot… then super cold), and I was also exhausted. I fell asleep in the jeep before we even left, then slept the whole way home. I don’t even remember getting into bed lol.

--As well, Christopher is in Seattle right now on a business trip. It is awful timing, but he’s gotta do what he’s gotta do. Its part of the reason last week was so hectic and crazy. I wanted to get everything scheduled and done so he could be there for most of it.

--I won't go into too much detail here, but Pawpaw isn't doing well right now. He has a blockage near his brain that's causing him to have mini strokes. He has a procedure and testing on Friday, so my mother-in-law is travelling up to be with them for a few days. I hope everything goes well.

--Lastly, one of my best friends is going into surgery today. I'm sure everything will go alright, but it's been weighing heavily on my mind. I hope everything goes smoothly for her. She will be in the hospital for about a week or two. I wish I could be there for you, Kels!! xoxo

Okay, I think that’s most of the major stuff right now. It’s not everything, but I would have to write an essay to go into everything!

*Btw, It is exactly ONE MONTH until my wedding day! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!*

Second Bridal Shower

Hello guys! I'm so sorry, I've been so busy that I haven't had a chance to update you guys on how everything is going. I'll try and do that sometime in the next week, but I can't promise anything.  For now, here are some pictures from my second bridal shower.

There were about twenty of us there, which is a perfect size, IMO. I had a lot of fun. It was a tad bit warm with everyone in there, but that's okay =)

Wedding Update

Hello everyone!

So it's been a while since I've done an update, so I thought I'd let you all know how things are going...

If you're on my Facebook or Twitter, you probably heard about my troubles in customs. I was supposed to fly on Monday, but after spending two and a half hours in customs waiting for my fiancĂ© visa stuff to be approved, I missed my flight. The ironic part is, they won't let you go into customs more than two hours before your flight, so there wasn't much I could do. Unfortunately, all the flights that day were booked leaving Calgary, so I had to rebook to fly on Tuesday instead. It wasn't a huge problem or anything (except that my parents had already made the drive back to our town), but it was rather anticlimactic. I'd already had my emotional goodbye with my parents, and then I saw them four hours later LOL.

However, I did get to fly on Tuesday and I'm now here in Virginia. Alas, my luggage didn't make it on my flight, so I had to wait until the next morning to get it. Thankfully, everything is done now, so that's good =)

On the wedding front, my future mother-in-law and I went to pick out the tuxes for all of the guys earlier today. Then we went and I had my first dress fitting. I'm not afraid to admit I was terrified that my dress wouldn't fit or that something else would go wrong. Luckily, my dress fits PERFECTLY. The lady was actually shocked, because it's rare for a dress to fit so well. The only alteration I need is a bustle in my back to pick up my train. Other than that, it's finished. My waist looks shockingly small in it, and I adore the beading and all of the details on it. I am so excited to show you guys to see what you think!

Lastly, I picked out my veil, which is also gorgeous. I can't wait to show everyone!!! =)

Well, I think that's all for now. Next week is super busy for wedding stuff, so I'll update that as I go =)

I hope you guys had a wonderful holiday!

xoxo

Happy Canada Day!

I know I post this video a lot, but it's one of my favourite songs about Canada!

This video is from Chapters/Indigo, the Barnes & Noble of Canada.
I quite enjoyed it, so I thought I would pass it along =)

Today is my last day living in Canada (ironic, isn't it?) so I'm spending it with my family. We are going to have breakfast at the fire hall (where my dad is a fire fighter), then we are going to hang out at the local park where they host festivities all day. After that, we're having family over for a BBQ, then we are going to go watch the fireworks display =) I know the majority of you are American, but for those Canadians out there, I hope you have a wonderful Canada Day!
